By-Laws for Berrydale Buckmasters Hunting Club

Preamble

  1. These rules are established to promote better management of the club’s deer herd and to foster fairness and goodwill among the club’s members.

General Rules

  1. All members shall abide by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Hunting Regulations for the current year - http://www.eregulations.com/florida/hunting.
  2. All stands and shooting houses are public – there are no private hunting spots on the lease.
  3. Outside of bow season, there will be no additional baiting unless agreed to by all members.  This is to ensure that all members are aware of any additional food sources.
  4. Climbing or using temporary stands is accepted and encouraged; however, it cannot interfere with any permanent stand.

Dues and Meetings

  1. Dues to cover the lease are to be paid annually during the first week of May.  The amount due will vary from year-to-year based upon the cost of the lease and the number of members in the club.
  2. A $75 penalty will be incurred after the 1st of June.
  3. Membership shall be terminated if dues are not received by July 1st.
  4. Dues are non-refundable.
  5. The first annual meeting will be held during the first two weeks of April to discuss by laws and to preplan club improvement/maintenance projects.  Refer to our website for an agenda and exact date/time and location. 
  6. The second annual meeting will be held during the first two weeks of May to collect lease dues, to approve club improvement/maintenance projects and to assign responsibilities.
  7. Dues to cover the cost of club improvement/maintenance projects are to be paid in two equal installments during the first week of July and October.  The amount due will vary from year-to-year based upon the cost of club improvement/maintenance projects and the number of members in the club.

 Membership and Guests

  1. Membership includes immediate family members (spouse, child, grandchild, parent, and sibling).
  2. A guest is anyone who is not an immediate family member. 
  3. Guests are not allowed during December doe days and after Jan 21st.
  4. A maximum of one guest per hunt is allowed. 
  5. A maximum of six guest-hunts per year is allowed.
  6. No more than two stands shall be occupied by one membership, i.e. family member and member or guest and member.

Deer Harvest Rules

  1. All deer harvested by the member, his immediate family and guests count toward the member’s quota.
  2. A maximum of two doe per membership may be harvested.  Doe may be harvested during bow and primitive weapon seasons and during doe days as established by the state of Florida.
  3. A maximum of one state-legal spike may be harvested.  A spike shall not be harvested after harvesting a buck of three-points or better.  After the first buck, all remaining bucks harvested shall be three-point or better.
  4. Hunter’s harvesting a deer that doesn’t meet the above requirements will require the hunter to contribute $100.00 to the treasury for the first offence and $200.00 for the second offence.  A third offence will result in termination of the hunter’s membership.
  5. Deer may not be harvested from an established stand adjoining a food plot or feeder during bow season.

Sign-In Rules

  1. All members must mark the sign-in board map while visiting or hunting the property.
  2. You must sign-in when you arrive and sign-out when you depart.
  3. In addition to marking the sign-in board, all hunters’ guests shall be entered in the guest tracking log online at least one day in advance of the planned hunt. You can access the guest application form by clicking here.
  4. Stand assignment for any given day will be by drawing at the sign in board on the day of the hunt.  Tags will be pulled out of a hat to determine picking order.  The time of the drawing is before the first hunt of the day, usually 0515.  You must be present to have your tag in the hat.

Scheduled Workdays

  1. All members must participate to the fullest extent possible during scheduled workdays. 

i)        Two workdays for cultivating food plots will be scheduled and announced via our website four weeks in advance.

ii)      Members must participate in at least one scheduled workday or contribute $500.00 to the treasury.

Unscheduled Workdays

  1. All members are expected to complete other tasks necessary for the maintenance of existing stands/shooting houses and the set-up of new stands/shooting houses.  A prioritized list of unscheduled tasks is available on the website. Each member is responsible for signing up to do at least two of these tasks and completing them in a timely manner before the beginning of hunting season.
